A selection of portraits and figurative work inspired by circus performance and clowns. I love the way the clown aesthetic can be rendered to express gothic undertones and flashes of colour.
I've always found portraiture and figurative drawing fascinating. As my pen or pencil glides across the paper I picture the contours of the face and body in the same way maps depict the contours of hills and valleys.
