The story behind the artwork : Some 30+ years ago my late Grandfather, Alfred Henry Stafford (an accomplished watercolour artist), painted the original version of “Cosy Ducks” as a Christmas present for my Mum. After my Mum passed away in 2021 it was handed down to me as I had always admired it. Although I loved the original painting I couldn’t help but feel it needed a bit of a refresh, a few small changes, some details tweaking and a general tidy up. Now that I am a professional artist I finally felt qualified to make those changes. Using fineliner pens, a variety of inks and acrylic paint I made the updates. A before and after picture can be found in the image gallery. My Grandfather died when I was young so we never got the chance to collaborate on any artwork together, but we have now! Obviously I will be keeping the original painting but I am delighted to be releasing these high quality prints in a range of sizes, as well as greetings cards, so more people can enjoy this wonderful artwork.
